Hurricanes are a powerful force of nature that thrives on the oceans where they are born but as they move inland they can be disastrous with heavy rains and winds.
There is no town, city, or country that is safe from the fury of Mother Nature. So the best thing to do is be prepared and these hurricane preparedness tips will help you do just that.
There are some terms you need to know. Flood Watch means a flood is possible in your area. A Flood Warning means flooding is already happening and will soon reach your area. And flash floods can develop within a couple of minutes so anytime you hear this warning you need to take action right away.
Before the storm hits you should:
Monitor your local weather station or news for warnings, watches, and any other important information.
1. Secure any loose patio furniture, garbage cans, gardening equipment and anything else that could get lift and cause damage or come flying through a window.
2. Learn the safest route from where you live to a safe zone. You may not have a lot of time to evacuate which is why it’s important to know the route in advance.
3. Decide on a central meeting ground where all family will meet in the event they become separated.
4. You need to have a well stocked first aid kit and emergency kit which would have flashlights, batteries, water, food supplies, and a battery operated radio.
When the flood warning has been issued you need to:
1. Be alert to any signs of flooding and flood waters threatening your home. Don’t wait, evacuate right away.
2. Follow evacuation routes that have been established. Do not take other roots that may pose a serious risk.
3. When driving if you are faced with water that is rapidly rising don’t try to go through instead turn around and find another route. If you proceed you may be risking your life.
If Heavy Rains Hit you need to:
1. Follow any evacuation orders moving to safe ground immediately.
2. Keep your battery radio tuned to the local station for further evacuation instructions.
3. Never wade into a flooded area. They can be very deceptive. The water could be much deeper than it appear, the ground underneath could be washed away. Never drive or walk on a flooded road.
After The Flood you need to:
1. When it has been deemed safe to return home you will want to examine the structure of your home before entering looking for any collapsing. Watch for snakes and rodents too. they come in with the water.
2. Watch for electrical wires that are live. Make sure the power has been turned off.
3. Begin cleaning up as soon as it is safe to do so. Throw away any contaminated goods, throw away perishable goods. Wash any canned goods that can be salvaged with soap and water.
4. Do not drink the water unless officials have indicated it is safe to do so.
5. If the power goes out you may need to rely on generators and candles but you need to also make sure that you are operating them properly. Do not overload your generator and make sure that you plug individual items into the plug.
6. Do not use charcoal in the house.
7. Try to use flashlights rather than candles as it is a much safer alternative and never leave your candles unattended even for just a little while.
These hurricane preparedness tips will help you stay safe before, during, and after the hurricane.

Generating leads through the Internet is an excellent tool for expanding your business, eliminating geographical barriers and increasing sales.
But how do we create leads from cyber space? After all, the information highway is infinite with no boundaries. How can a small business owner, you the real estate agent, create qualified traffic?
Imagine your web site is a small store on a busy street and you are surrounded by large corporate department stores. Outside your store window are pedestrians, bicyclists and automobiles passing by. This is traffic. And, in this traffic are people interested in your product. These are prospects. Of these prospects, some will come in the store and make inquiries. These are contacts. Some of these contacts will start to shop. These are leads. Some of these shoppers will make a purchase. These are clients.
Your web site is no different. The keys to successful Internet marketing are the THREE C’s:
- Create – create traffic
- Capture – capture prospects, thus creating contacts
- Cultivate – cultivate contacts into leads, then into clients
Create – the first step in generating leads through your web site is to CREATE traffic. Creating traffic for your web site is done using three primary approaches:
- Search Engine Site Rankings – the search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN etc.) rank your web site based on a number of factors including age, popularity, content, link-ins, etc., and list your site accordingly in the directory. This can be a long process, as a couple of major contributing factors are age and traffic. Thus, if you have a new site or a rarely used site, your ranking remains low, and because your ranking remains low, your traffic remains low. Because your traffic remains low, your ranking remains low, and so on. You can see the cycle.
- Keywords Pay-Per-Clicks – you, the web site owner, bid on keywords with the search engines, and the search engines list your site in the Sponsored Links section of the directory. This can be an efficient way to drive traffic to your site, but it does come with a cost.
- Owner Driven Traffic – you, the web site owner, drive traffic to your web site via electronic articles, emails, signs, print media etc. This can be very costly, as it is difficult to generate enough traffic to capture leads.
So how do you Create enough traffic to generate quality prospects? Well it’s not as difficult as it seems. First create a quality keyword driven web site, and then use all three methods until your site is ranked high enough to maintain an adequate stream of prospects through the search engine directories.
Capture – the second step in generating leads through your web site is to CAPTURE the traffic. Capturing traffic for your web site is done using tools such as guest books or registration forms with bait. Capture the user’s information; do not give away free information.
- Example: a user is searching the Internet for the MESA MLS. Now, the user has found our site, so do not give the information away for free. Searching the MLS is our bait, and a registration form is our capture tool. More often than not, an agent will allow the user to use the MLS without registering, and the rationalization is that users do not want to provide the info or the info is faulty. No problem, this is the first filter. We are trying to find out who is serious and who isn’t. Utilize the registration form as a filter. If you don’t, they won’t be back… what do you have to lose?
Cultivate – the final step in generating prospects through your web site is to Cultivate the leads. Cultivate leads with DRIP CAMPAIGNS. A Drip Campaign is a series of content driven messages sent over time. Preferably this system is automated:
- In our example: the keyword was Mesa MLS, and a user found our site and signed up on our registration form. Now what? Implement “The Drip Campaign” – an automated series of messages delivering content that differentiates you the agent. Cultivate the prospect and convert them into a lead, then into a sale.
A great drip campaign is the MLS search provided by ARMLS. On your registration form, request information relating to their home search, then set up an automated search on the MLS that sends them listings.
Be careful, don’t send the user into information overload, and only send a couple of listings at a time.
Many real estate agents have decided to concentrate their efforts on cultivation. Therefore, a quality lead generating company may be an effective way of advertising.

Why not hire a limousine to drive you around London to see all of the amazing attractions? You can hire a limousine to drive around Trafalgar Square so you can see some of London’s famous statues and monuments like the famous Nelsons Column or the Trafalgar fountain. There are plenty more attractions in London that can be enjoyed by hiring a chauffeur stretched limousine.
A few of the attractions you could visit include:-
Madame Tussauds – This is where you can see the most famous people in the world, and all in the same building.
The Star Dome- Once called the London planetarium which is now a part of the Madame Tussauds building, the London planetarium was built and opened in 1958. This is where the public could learn about astronomy.
London Eye- The iconic landmark for the millennium which opened in early 2000 and visited by over 3.5 million people every year.
Hyde Park – Known to everyone as the finest historic landscape in London covering 350 acres of land. It has a lake for paddle boat rides or you can also enjoy horse riding.
Oxford Street – This is for all the shopaholics that crave the “sale” signs in shops, there are in excess of over 300 retail shops from clothes shops to arts and crafts stores. If shopping is not your cup of tea, visit one of Oxford Street’s cafes and enjoy a coffee whilst you watch the Oxford Street shopping mayhem.
As you can tell, there are a lot of attractions available to see in London during the day and hiring a limousine would make it even more remarkable and also more memorable.
Life at night in the area of London is even better than in the day as you have a lot more lights, sound and traffic, people are coming in to and out of London and looks amazing. Imagine the stretched limousine with its Lamborghini doors and a smart looking chauffeur driver fully uniformed with the chauffeur hat. He/She will open complimentary bottles of bubbly which is chilled to the right temperature and served in champagne flute glasses. Then they will take you for a cruise around London while you sip your complimentary bubbly and listen to your favorite music.
The limousine experience will make you feel like an A1 celebrity because you see everyone turn their heads as you cruise past them. Then as you get to your destination the chauffeur driver will pull up and open the Lamborghini doors. This is an entrance to be enjoyed as everyone would be watching to see witch celebrity has just got out of the limousine.
Once you have enjoyed your night out at the venue, the driver will be outside ready to take you back to your stretch limousine and will again open another bottle of complimentary champagne so you and your friends and family can enjoy the rest of the evening. As you enter the limousine you may be exhausted or slightly tipsy, if this is the case just turn on the air conditioning and mood lighting and listen to your favorite music. This makes it really relaxing and you feel as you can unwind, you may fall asleep or end up looking through the window of the limousine as you arrive to your place of original pickup. The chauffeur will pull up at your front door and will give you a farewell goodbye; the feeling would be wonderful and would make you feel like you would like another limousine the week after.
Why not have pink limo hire, stretch limo hire or hummer limo hire.

What Causes Chewing in Dogs? What should you do if the dog chews the things in your home?
For dogs, chewing is a natural and normal animal behavior. You should not let you dog chew up all your belongings: your furniture, your shoes, your stuffed animals, or your remote controls. I once had the pleasure of knowing a naughty dog that chewed a hole so massive in his house that he managed to escape the home. This dog also consumed a computer mouse, and several remote controls.
As pet owners, we must educate ourselves on why puppies chew things.
In order to suppress the discomfort of teething, the puppies begin to put anything and everything in their mouths, just like a baby when they begin to teethe. Fully grown dogs generally chew when they’re bored or upset by an owner’s absence. Many pooches chew things because they are playing or because they find an item tasty. But generally, for most adult dogs, chewing is merely a bad habit.
Now let’s discuss each of these destructive behaviors more thoroughly.
Teething
Mouthing
Boredom
Fear
Play
Attention Seeking
Just tastes Good
Teething – Teething is a stage of your puppy’s development. For human children, there are a number of topical gels that can be applied to the gums in order to reduce some of the pain caused by teething. Sometimes vets will prescribe a topical gel for teething in puppies as well. You should help a puppy get through the teething stage because this stage isn’t permanent. One tip is to find toys, usually made from hard rubber or plastic, that are designed specially with teething puppies in mind. In addition, you can try giving the puppy ice cubes, or a knotted wash cloth that has been chilled in the freezer. When the puppy shows signs of discomfort due to teething, give him the frozen wash cloth to play with, as it may help soothe him. Typically, the frozen cloth technique works best with very small or young dogs. You want your dog to understand what belongs to him and what belongs to you. I like to hand a frozen bagel to a teething puppy. That way he gets to gnaw on it, and eventually he can eat it as well. I prefer to use the smaller bagels, which can be bought in a large bag. This appears to work effectively.
Mouthing – Puppies as young as 8 weeks can already possess very pointy teeth. They have a tendency to nip if they’re playing and jumping around. Biting should be discouraged by the pet’s owners. That’s a standard means of canine communication. Some dog owners play too rough with their dogs, and then the dog may gently bite back. However, this is not good behavior to teach a young pup, and it should not be practiced.
Boredom – When left alone for extended periods, your dog may become bored and will chew your belongings. Chewing will keep a dog from feeling bored and alone. The most effective approach to curing this is to walk or run with your dog more frequently. You have to be aware that while some dogs become more relaxed and sleepy by going for a walk, others get all hyped up instead. A great way to relax with your dog is take a little stroll with your pet first, and then spend some quite time together. It will result in a bonding process and will make your relationship stronger. I recommend frozen bagels or frozen pizza dough as chew toy alternatives.
Fear – Occasionally, dogs may chew because they’re frightened. For instance, lots of dogs are frightened by thunder. Your dog may also bark and chew on the window frames, etc. when a strange dog is seen walking by outside. This is a result of territorial anxiety. The “down and stay” command is a great way to end unneeded defensive behaviors in your dog. Communicating this way when your dog is behaving well will make it more effective when he’s engaged in undesirable conduct. Pull your dog from the window and command “down stay”. Sitting with your dog will encourage him to relax. That generally gives them a breather to collect themselves.
Play – Some dogs bite or chew while playing, this means that your dog needs more training to eliminate these harmful behaviors. Different dogs have different energy levels. High energy dogs generally require both training and a rigorous program of exercise. Structured play time is very important for dog. This includes games such as jumping or fetch. During his other activities, both indoors and outdoors, you should practice the “down stay” command frequently.
Attention Seekers – Some dogs are natural born attention seekers and need extra attention from their owners. To attract attention, dogs may bark, steal, chew, twirl around, even limp. A dog chews things because it desires attention. A dog even views negative attention from it’s owners as attention, and will continue this undesirable behavior. Ignore the negative behavior, and then the dog’s desire to chew your things should go away.
Just Tastes Good – We all know if something is tasty for a dog, then the dog will want to eat it. Sometimes dogs find items very palatable. When something is palatable to a dog, the dog likes the feeling of chewing or holding that item in its mouth. Dogs enjoy chewing on furniture, stuffed animals, and other items. The most effective approach is to put such items away while your pet is going through this phase.
Chewing may not be an issue if your beloved dog is healthy, exercises and plays frequently, and has plenty of room to roam and explore. If your dog continues to chew, then maybe frozen bagels will terminate your pet’s desire to chew.

Someone typed that into the Google window on their way to finding my blog and I couldn’t resist!
Why in the world would you want to make your man miserable anyway? The answer may surprise you!
If your relationship is taking on water and you are bailing as hard as you can to stay afloat, there are some things you can do to get him to share some of the work.
Women complain that “He just sits on the couch and tunes me out.”
Then they tell their circle of friends all about it and what do you know….everyone jumps in and before you know it, you have each described your man’s weaknesses and bad habits heavily laced with mean spirited emotion.
Ladies, READ THIS CAREFULLY, the way to make your man miserable is to make yourself ecstatic!
Once he is left with his own grumpy self and can’t fling it at you, he just might start picking up the slack.
I know, I know, I can hear you: “But it isn’t fair….HE is causing all of the problems. If HE would get up off the couch and fix a few things around here, I wouldn’t be so stressed. Why should I do the changing when HE is the problem.”
Whenever you are talking more about him than yourself, you are in the PERFECT PLACE to make a radical shift in how you operate. Try these 5 ideas and see if you can rock your relationship world out of miserable and into restore mode:
1. When he is being a grump, go for a walk. A long one. Plug in your Ipod and listen to your favorite music and kick it into gear. Leave him alone with himself and refresh your mind and spirit!
2. If he is buried in his newspaper and not listening to you, light the corner of his paper with a match…..no, PLEASE DON’T DO THAT, even if you want to. Ask him to put the paper down and set a time for you to check in with each other. Tell him that you want to engage with him for 10 minutes and then stick to it!
3. If he is defensive, disarm him. You know him best. You know what buttons he is sensitive to. Find something to compliment him about and say, “I want to feel closer to you and I don’t know how.”
4. Plan a candle light dinner to celebrate yourselves. No matter what, you are together for a reason and a little night music with candles is always appreciated. Reminisce over your first couple of dates and ask him, “Wouldn’t it be nice if we went back to one of those places?”
5. Write him a long letter. One that is NEVER TO BE SENT. Write to his best self, the boy he was and still is…maybe deeply guarded and overwhelmed. Tell him your hopes and dreams for each other. Write in detail and let yourself empty your heart of what you long to say. If you do this everyday for a week…you will be stunned at the change.
Lastly…..STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM, period. Words are powerful. More powerful than we give them credit for. If you wouldn’t say it in front of him….DON’T SAY IT!
Will he be miserable really? Who knows. If you change radically how you handle your disappointments in the relationship, at least it will be a fresh playing field. He may not know quite how to manage the new game but if your are supposed to be together, you will see signs that your work is paying off!
Once you follow these five steps, you will feel amazing! You will unload your backed up feelings safely and the rush of creative energy will show you that you are on the right track! Besides, you will remember why you fell in love with him in the first place!
